Introduction
“You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think”-A.A. Milner, Winnie-the-Pooh
I’m Stephanie Porter — a mom, a friend, and a therapist. I know that life’s daily challenges can sometimes leave us feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of our next step. In those moments, having someone to talk to — someone who listens without judgment and offers practical, mindful guidance — can make all the difference.
I believe therapy isn’t about “fixing” what’s broken, but about finding stability, clarity, and a deeper connection to self. Healing happens in partnership, and my goal is to co-create a space with you that feels safe, empathetic, and empowering. A space where you feel seen, heard, and understood. When you're ready to talk, I’m here to listen — and walk alongside you.
What Clients Say About Me
Clients often share that they feel comfortable, supported, and free to be their authentic selves with me. They value the calm, nonjudgmental space we create together — one that fosters insight, healing, and personal growth. Many describe leaving sessions with a greater sense of clarity and useful tools to navigate their lives. I’m honored to be seen as someone who shows up with presence, compassion, and a deep commitment to mental wellness.
About Me and My Professional Skills
I’m a graduate from Aurora University with a master’s degree in social work and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Northern Illinois University.
I’m currently a Licensed Social Worker with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
Outside of my professional work I enjoy spending time with my 8-year-old son who is autistic, exploring nature, traveling to Michigan to spend time with family, baking and building Lego sets.
